Suzy Quilts Sew Along

Hey Friends! How are you doing?

I’m doing ok! Still broken arm but getting a lot more use out of it. Hoping that’s not a bad thing. I go back to the doctor on Tuesday and hopefully will see a lot of healing! 🙏

I wanted to tell you about Suzy Quilts sew along with her new pattern Gather!

I was so thankful that I went a head and did mine early. There is no way I can cut out a quilt right now, but I can LongArm still!

So here’s mine all ready for the LongArm. I used all Kona Cotton solids with some Rifle Paper Co prints on the front and for the back! Can’t wait to get it done!! You should follow the link up above on the first picture and sign up! She’s offering great prizes and we are sponsoring one week with a free LongArm quilting! Yah!

So honestly things are still moving slow here with my arm but I did get a few Longarms done, including binding this week. Albeit with lots more breaks in between!

Any how I can’t wait to see all the pretty gather quilts, if your going to do the sew along let me know!!!

Have a great weekend! XO’s

Snowman Client Quilt

Hello Friends!

We’re back up and running. Arm is still broken but I am getting less pain with it and a tiny bit mobility. Catherine is loading quilts for me and I finish them up. We worked on this colorful snowman quilt yesterday. The client picked the famous Midnight Sparkle for the edge to edge. So dang cute!

It felt really great being back working but I did have some anxiety. I mean what would life be like with no anxiety!

I don’t like to talk politics, religion, or anything like that. But I do have to say this change of power has me worried. I’m so thankful to be living in a small rural town!

Take it easy my dear friends! What are you working on this week? Whatever you do do it in love!

We are also now taking LongArm Quilt requests for February and March. It will fill up fast so get your request in!!

Shine Quilt 1

Hello Friends!

I hope today was a good day for you! It was good here. I had the opportunity to work on one of Suzy’s Quilts from Suzy Quilts. It is from her third installment of patterns this year called The Shine quilt. I have to admit I was very nervous to work on it. But I am with all of them. I want to do my very best. Suzy couldn’t decide between Constrained Swirls and Crystalline. She left it up to me to decide! Nerves!

After talking to a good quilty friend we decided on the swirls. I think it turned out beautiful but really the quilt was perfect and anything would have looked beautiful on it.

It was also so nice to talk to Suzy on the phone. She gives great advice for quilting, living, and taking care of yourself as a woman. I have to admit I’ve been working so hard and having so much pain with the weather change I probably had let myself go.

So tonight I colored my hair and hopefully this week will get in for a hair trim! What are you doing to take care of your self? My anxiety is still giving me problems. The elections are over and now we have a new set of leaders starting. Scary. And the pandemic always breathing down our neck. Tight schedules and cooler weather. Just so much!

Take time for yourself! Paint your toe nails. Color your hair. Take that hot bath! Do whatever it is that brings you peace and love!

Meadowland Quilt

Good morning friends! We survived our show this weekend and we are going to be working on a quilt top today, resting some, and watching some football!

I pieced this Meadowland myself. I love all the gold tones and fall colors. It’s my favorite time of the year as I really love the color orange right now! I got the bundle of fabric from Southern Charm Quilts and it was just the perfect match of fabrics. She has lots of fabric and some really cool patterns. January I want to make her Anthology quilt!

We are also super excited to be working on Suzy’s quilt top from Suzy Quilts. It’s from her Shine sew along and I can’t wait to get it on the LongArm!!

We also have 3 tshirt quilts and 5 full quilt finishes to get done by Christmas so with that being said our cut off for Christmas delivery is November 15. After that I can’t promise I will get the quilts back but I sure as heck will try!

All well workshop has a beautiful pattern for quilted coats and we will be working on these for our next fall show. We will have a long and short version. I’m super excited about that! I want one for myself so bad that I can’t wait to get started on them! Do you prefer shirt or long?

Well I am off of here now. Must pickup and cleanup the house from being gone all weekend. We hope you have a great Sunday!

Client quilt #389

Hello friends!

Happy Monday, or is it Monday Blues? It seems to change as the day goes on here. I went into today feeling powerful and ready to take it on. Now I’m dragging. Honestly I think it is because I skip breakfast and then eat lunch too late. I’m trying to get better at that. My body only eats when it’s hungry so planning 3 meals a day does not work for me. Or maybe it’s the cooler weather. 🤷‍♀️ How are you feeling? How are you adjusting to the cooler temperatures?

Well my friend Sammy could tell us all about that. She sent this beautiful quilt all the way from Alaska! I think that’s the furthest one to come in. The pattern is the Stella Star and her fabrics are just adorable. If you look closely the backing is all skies! We used Let is Snow on this one. I really like how it came out. She’s now back in Alaska with Sammy!

We are getting ready for our 2nd show this weekend. It’s called The Chandelier Barn Market. We always have a great time and meet lots of new friends and see lots of old friends. We get a bunch of fresh air and some really good food truck food! I can’t wait for that part! If your in Southern Indiana it’s worth getting bundled up and coming out to. It’s in Montgomery Indiana.

Back to the LongArm!

Have a great day!

Client Quilt #339

Hello friends! I worked on this Carpenter’s Star quilt that my client dropped off yesterday! I just couldn’t wait to work on it. She had picked a beautiful variegated thread in colors of deep yellow, cream, and brown. A very bold move that I was anxious to see how it would look. She chose the edge to edge Deb’s Oakleaf from Urban Elementz.

She loves dense quilting. I do too. The texture turned out awesome! The last picture is of the back. I think the thread color really blended well with the fabrics she used. What do you think? I love it and can’t wait for her to see it!

Do you love colored thread? I’m usually one that sticks to cream colored thread but on this next quilt we used a rose colored thread.

This quilt was made by a bunch of quilters. Each block a quilter made and sent in to Amanda who pieced them all together. She sent it to me to be Longarmed. We gifted it to a friend who was going in for a double mastectomy.

I loved seeing all the colorful stars. Each made with love. We used the panto Midnight Sparkle. I huge favorite of mine and so many quilters!

The really neat God thing that happened totally on it’s own is each Star got a sparkle star right in the middle of it. Is that like magic? I could not have ever lined that up by myself. Truly a miracle!

Life is such a handful of miracles. If only we’re open to seeing them! Have a great weekend friends!

Client Quilt #336

I’ve been busy the last couple weeks! So I thought I would post some great quilt tops I’ve been working on.

I worked on this beauty that came from Louisiana last week. Mary wanted medium dense quilting with Baptist Fans. She needed this quilt back fast as it was for a sick relative. So we worked extra to get it done and right back out to her!

We are getting close to the holidays! With Covid and the Elections I can not even stand to watch TV or check the news. We could use some good news. So. Number one is for me Halloween! I am looking forward to going into my daughters and handing out candy! Hopefully the weather will be dry! We always watch a scary movie and order pizza! Yum!

I hope your doing good and taking care of yourself! I’ve been doing a lot more facials. Oil baths. Painted my toe nails. Anything to make me feel better! I think right now more than ever we need to pay ourselves special attention! If it makes you feel good and takes your mind off of things I say do it!

Snowflake Quilt

Hello Everyone! I was honored to be asked to test this pattern by Nicole at Modern Handcraft. I choose the 4 color version with Catherine picking out the 4 shades of red. It turned out perfect! We really love it and we really love the pattern.

The quilt pattern comes in several versions. A one color version with the snowflake in white (or if you were creative you could make your snowflake in any color you choose). The next option is a scrappy version and finally the one I did, a 4 color version! It’s very easy to put together. My advice is mark your pieces: I use sticky notes and straight pins to keep all of my pattern pieces in order.

Nicole is releasing the pattern on October 1st and doing a sew along starting October the 7th. I’m will also be doing that, but sticking with a more neutral pallet. I can’t decide if I want to do the white snowflake with the neutral scrappy or do the neutral colored snowflake with an all white background. What do you think? You can purchase the kit which includes the pattern and the fabric you need here.

We hope you love this pattern as much as we do and join the sew along.

Have an awesome week!

Dayton No. 1 Quilt

Hello! We have had a busy summer here, but now it’s back to school and back to work for all. This is one of the quilts we did for an upcoming quilt show. The quilt pattern is by Heather Jones and is called Dayton No. 1. You can get the pattern here in her book Quilt Local.

For the stitching we’ve used one of Karlee Porter’s edge to edge designs called Retro Tile #11. We love how the curves in the stitching add such a fun texture to straight lines in this piece. It also brings a touch of drama to the negative space on the quilt.

We also wanted to let everyone know that we are at about a week out on Longarm Quilting. So if you are wanting your quilt top done and back fast now is a great time! With our shows coming up over the next three months we will be quite busy and the wait time will be longer.

Thank you for stopping by! Make sure to sign up for our email list to be kept in the loop with any changes going on.

Have a great day!
