I love it when my client wants some really good texture. We choose the edge to edge Compass and we got that texture. We used a pretty beige colored thread. It just pops on this navy blue backing.
I have a lot of people ask me about the different density for quilting. This quilt is definitely dense quilting. With dense quilting your going to get a heavier stiff blanket. But once it’s washed your going to get some great crinkling.
It’s a raining day and cooler here. They are talking snow this week. We are not looking forward to that since we’ve had some very warm spring days already. But it is what it is!
Carolyn sent in this one and her fabrics were beautiful and she picked Baptist Fans for her Longarm edge to edge design. It turned out so much fun!
In fact if your reading this you can get 20% off any quilt using the Baptist Fans edge to edge pattern. Just put on your request form Baptistfans20!! This edge to edge stitches out so beautiful and easy.
Hope your Tuesday night is the best! I’m so tired I’m ready for bed. Our dog has been waking us up in the middle of the night freaking out scared. We can’t figure out what her problem is but it’s really messing with our sleep! Tonight early bedtime!
We’ve had broken bones, broken machines, broken relationships, and now a broken bed.
Life has been crazy. So we’ve been a little silent. But not too worry we are still working in the background. I’m going to try this week to get better at posting.
My arm is doing so much better. This week most all of the pain is gone and I have pretty good range of motion. Can’t wait to get in the water where I can really work it out.
My machine is working really good too after having a fit and blowing her encoders. Being down two weeks was stressful for me in the beginning but I used the time to make a test pattern and now I can’t wait to have time to get it quilted!!
I hope life has been good to you. I feel like I’m mentally recovering from all of the stuff this year has thrown at us. Mentally it’s still hard for me to leave the house alone but I can tell I’m getting better about it. Do you struggle with mental stuff? I have found that really pampering myself, praying, and meditation helps a lot of the time. I am able to venture outside and sit in the sun now and that feels really good. It’s baby steps and looking toward the future with hope and trust.
Happy Saturday friends! I wanted to share this beautiful client quilt I worked on. She wanted straight line quilting and it turned out perfect. I was a little nervous at first but her quilt was very squared so it worked out really good!
Update on LongArm. Still in shop but planning on having it home Wednesday and back up and running! Thank you to all for being so patient!
Headed outside to enjoy the beautiful sunshine. Have a great Saturday!!
I thought I would talk about some things that would allow me to work on your quilts better. We are getting really busy here so we are having to use our time wisely.
Most of all my quilts that come in are in perfect condition and ready to go but a few times I’ve had to do some extra work. The main one is the backing. Please make sure you allow 4 inches extra on all sides. Please have your backing pieced and squared.
Please make sure you mark the top on both the front and back unless it’s obvious.
Please trim off all threads off the top of the quilt that are loose.
Iron front and back. If needed when it gets here I can iron out where it had to be folded.
Also if you’ve put borders on measure on all four sides to make sure they are the same size. Nothings worse than me having to put tucks in because the borders are not even. In some cases I’ve actually taken a border off that was 2 1/2 inches longer than the other side just to fix it. That takes up extra time but it’s something that can be avoided if you can just measure at home. All borders should measure the same.
If I’ve mentioned something you can’t do then just let us know on the request form. I know piecing backing can be a little confusing when you have so much yardage.
I want to repeat that 99% of my quilts come in with no problem, so please don’t read this and think I’m calling you out.
The most important one that I deal with is not enough backing. A pattern will call for 4 yards but that does not include what I need to get it hooked to the machine. So remember we need 8 more inches on the length and on the width.
Been kind of quiet on here but we’ve been working on some stuff that we cannot post till after July! Big fun stuff!
This week gets back to normal and playing catch up on quilts we have in here.
We’re having lots of sunshine in Indiana and we are so grateful for that! I worked on this Phase quilt last year. You can get the pattern at Modern Handcraft. It’s a fun one especially if you like curves!
My arm is healing and I’m thankful for that! It looks crazy but it is what it is! Meaning the bone has healed all jammed into the socket. I will loose some rotation on it but I’m working really hard in pt to get as much use out of it that I can!
I’m headed to Florida in June with my sister and I’m so super excited I can’t stand it!! Fun stuff! I can not wait to feel the heat and hear the water!
I used the edge to edge City of Light on this quilt! All fabrics are Kona Cottons. My favorites!!
This quilt was sent in for me to work on. She even pieced the backing, third picture. We used Diagonal Plaid on it and I just love how it turned out. It is a beautiful quilt and another one that was hard to let go off! That texture! Amiright?!?
I hope your having a great week! I worked on this beautiful quilt that Judy brought to me. Judy loves very dense quilting and she had picked out the edge to edge design called Sticks and Stones. Then she went even further on texture by adding the green thread to show on the white backing. It turned out really good and definitely lots of texture!
I was working on a quilt this morning and I heard something fall from the machine. It was a nut off of a screw somewhere. I was afraid to go any further, so I waited, all day for my husband to get home. Come to find out it was off one of the thread holders that I wasn’t even using. Dang! Lost a whole day. But better safe than sorry!
So tomorrow I will play catch up! It is what it is! But really….. what about this quilt? Do you like colored thread or just white? I lean toward white unless the quilt is all color with no white. Then I’ll look for colored thread!
Well time to sign off. The sun has gone down and I hear the bath calling my name! Have a great night friends!
Today I got to work on this beautiful quilt sent in by Mary from New Orleans! Mary always picks the most beautiful fabrics. She has inspired me to make another Vintage Lace myself!!
We are praying for our friends in Texas and states that have been impacted with the weather we’re all experiencing. Life is so stressful right now. I feel like I’m constantly waiting for the sky to fall. 😭
