Meadowland Quilt

Hello!

Don’t you just love Facebook memories! A year ago today I was out taking pictures of this Meadowland Quilt! The pattern is by Megan at Then Came June. This quilt is a nice size 64 X 64. I used colors of orange and turquoise patterns and it has been one of my favorite quilts. It was a lot of cutting and a lot of sewing but the quilt pattern is magnificent.

This quilt has been gently used. Mainly hanging on my quilt rack. It has been washed a few times but the coloring is still very pretty. I am over loaded with quilts right now and have decided to get rid of a lot of them. You can score this quilt for $125 plus shipping right now! Today! What?!?

The backing fabric is just as pretty as the front. Shades of orange and pink.

I choose to bind it in my favorite black and white stripe. I think the stripe just makes it look a little classy! If you are interested in this quilt please email us at lavenderfieldsblankets@gmail.com We will respond back to the first person and then send you a paypal address where you can send your money! And we will get the quilt out to you the next day!

Also if you are not following us on Facebook then please do! We are going to start doing give-aways for the holiday season. Your lucky cause the first one was suppose to be yesterday but I ended up in the doctors all morning and so it wasn’t started! New shoot date is for Friday! Follow us on Instagram at Lavenderfieldsco and on Facebook at Lavenderfieldsblankets.

I hope everyone has a great Humpday! The sun is shining here and we are just so grateful for that!

Sending positive vibes!

Happenings!

Happy Sunday friends!

I hope all is ok where you are! We are running into this week fast as it’s a short week! Thanksgiving this week with friends and family! We been doing a lot of organizing and cleaning. Today when desperately need to work on the outside of our house. The rain came and the chickens decided the front porch was the place to be. And the leaves are everywhere. This is the first year we have not raked up our leaves. I wanted them left alone to give our log cabin that fallish vibe. Well now they are getting on my nerves! Crazy! So some of them have to go!

I worked on this beautiful quilt this week! Lots of low volume fabric and some pastel colored squares! The pattern is from the book Modern Rainbow. The quilts in it are beautiful! Rebecca has an eye for color. This quilt will be listed in our Etsy shop just as soon as we can get good pictures of it. I used white binding on it. Cotton batting! I used an edge to edge from Karlee Porter Designs. I believe Retro Tile #11.

We do have a busy week here. I simply cannot believe that it is almost Christmas again. Our son from the Air Force will be home December 30th so I am looking forward to that! We of course miss him bunches! We don’t have too many things planned. Mostly just getting as much time as we can with him. He is getting deployed in April so I doubt he will be home any time soon after this visit!

Well I do hope you are surrounded by love and good food! Family and friends!

On a side note we still have a few openings for Christmas quilts if you are needing them LongArmed! Just fill out the form and we will get right back to you!

Thank you so much

Love

Monday Blues………..

Hello Monday……..why are you picking on me?

Do you ever have those kinds of days. Where everything you touch just falls apart. It is one of those days for me. My phone kept going off which distracted me enough to mess up a quilt I was working on. So now it’s going to be seam ripper for me and all that fun stuff. The big dog has been whiny all morning watching for his dad which will not be home till much later. The little dog has had a seizure already today. So…… My anxiety is at an all time high. Maybe it is the weather. I don’t really know. But I do know when days start off like this they are not going to get better until I take some time to take care of me. Hot bath with some epsom salts and lavender oil it is.

American Flag Quilt

So I thought I would talk about my Etsy account. I on occasion have time to make quilts. I love quilting but with the quilting machine taking up much of my time I don’t get to quilt as much as I would like to. But when I do I am always trying out a new edge to edge design on the LongArm. Which is good for you! Because I certainly don’t need all of these quilts! So I have some of them slowly getting listed on my Etsy account for sale!! You can find a link to the shop here or on the home page of website here.

Keep watching as we will slowly be adding more quilts at some great prices for those Christmas Gifts. To yourself, or to a loved one!

Lots of love

Snowflake quilt #2

Rainbow Quilt and binding!

Hello friends! I hope you are having a great weekend! I was able to get this quilt all finished up this week and I am pretty happy about that and really like how it turned out. It’s one of my own quilt patterns. I love drawing up quilt patterns on graph paper and seeing how they turn out!

I use the edge to edge design from Urban Elementz called “Path to my Heart” I love how it turned out. I believe that rainbows are a sign of love and peace, so the hearts in this design just matched up perfectly! What do you think?

When I am short on time I will machine sew my binding down on both sides. The problem with doing that is I hate that line of stitches going around the front of the quilt. It interferes with the Longarm design. So I first sew the binding on the back of the quilt with my machine. So then it flips over to the front..

Next I press down that binding to the front side and clip it with my binding clips. I then go all round that on the front and glue that binding down. Just do little stripes at a time and as you put the glue on go ahead and iron that down. The heat will dry the glue. I then just add a few quilt clips every 3-4 inches just to help keep it all down nice and neat. Here is the link to the glue baste it that I use. It works really well and washes out of the quilt in the first wash. It comes with a tiny wand so it’s not coming out real fast!

I then change my foot on my sewing machine so that I can have one side down on the quilt top and the other side down on the binding. This allows you to get very close to the edge of the binding.

Here you can see what a great close stitch you can get. And no ugly sewing line going down the front of your quilt. It will blend in with the fabric on the back and not be so noticeable. I hope you give this a try if you machine sew your binding down. If you have any questions please feel free to comment and I will answer you and help you as much as I can!

Hope you have a great Sunday! We will be watching football and doing Taco Sunday…………. cause tacos just go good with football! Right? Go Bears!

Love,

Lisa

Feeling like Fall

Hello Friends!

Its feeling like fall here and I have to admit……… I love it! No I did not think I would be saying those words. But it has been a hot summer and the cool air feels so good. My allergies have been a wreck with the warm temperatures and I can already tell that I am breathing much easier. #thankful!

I’ve been working on this really cool Halloween themed quilt. We decided to do the binding in orange and then a stripe down the side in black and white.

This quilt top was put together using the pattern “Hill Country Queen” out of Laura Preston’s new book called “Simple Geometric Quilting”. I loved the idea of the bigger blocks! We used a panto from Urban Elementz called Spider Web. I really love the web effect and Urban Elementz edge to edge designs are always really easy to work with. They line up perfect. If you want dense or medium density they always look great! Next in line is another Halloween themed quilt that they are wanting the spider web panto on with black thread! I cannot wait to see that one!

The backing fabric is perfect and was used on the front in blocks too. I don’t have any information on it. So not sure where it came from or who designed it but if you know feel free to let me know! I love it! It is the perfect backing for a really cool Halloween quilt.

Showing in the upper picture is the two colors of binding that was used. I think the contrast of the two different colors and the stripes add a little crazy Halloween touch to this one. In this picture it has had it’s first bath and is off to it’s new home! Do you do themed based quilts for your home? I really like the touch of the holidays very lightly around my house so a quilt is the perfect thing to hang for the holiday season!

I will close for now. I am working on this tree for a Christmas themed quilt. And another Halloween quilt up behind it. It is time for the seasons I guess!

Hope you have an excellent rest of the week. If you have any questions about a custom quilt or any longarm quilting service please feel free to contact us through the contact form found here on our website. Remember when you send a quilt to us we know you want it back fast. So it’s a priority to get it quilted. Get is squared up. Bind it if you need us to. And get it back to you as soon as we can. You will be kept up to date on where we are at with your quilt top. I make quilts too so I know how precious that quilt top is to you! I know how much work goes into getting it all done. I treat each quilt top as if it was my own!

Much love

Lisa

Snowflake Quilt

Hello Everyone! I was honored to be asked to test this pattern by Nicole at Modern Handcraft. I choose the 4 color version with Catherine picking out the 4 shades of red. It turned out perfect! We really love it and we really love the pattern.

The quilt pattern comes in several versions. A one color version with the snowflake in white (or if you were creative you could make your snowflake in any color you choose). The next option is a scrappy version and finally the one I did, a 4 color version! It’s very easy to put together. My advice is mark your pieces: I use sticky notes and straight pins to keep all of my pattern pieces in order.

Nicole is releasing the pattern on October 1st and doing a sew along starting October the 7th. I’m will also be doing that, but sticking with a more neutral pallet. I can’t decide if I want to do the white snowflake with the neutral scrappy or do the neutral colored snowflake with an all white background. What do you think? You can purchase the kit which includes the pattern and the fabric you need here.

We hope you love this pattern as much as we do and join the sew along.

Have an awesome week!

Client Quilt

A client’s sweet baby quilt I quilted up for her. Bright colors of purple and green. She choose the panto called Rambling Daisies. With medium density quilting. This quilt was 50 X 50.

Her quilt was all squared up and ready for binding when she received it! I think when I make a quilt for myself that was always the one thing I did not like doing. Now since I do it for clients it has become a favorite of mine. Nothing looks better that a new quilted quilt all squared up! In fact every quilt that leaves here is squared up unless you ask us not too! And…….there is no extra charge for that! What?!

Let us know how we can help you get your quilt all finished up! We would love to work with you!

Dayton No. 1 Quilt

Hello! We have had a busy summer here, but now it’s back to school and back to work for all. This is one of the quilts we did for an upcoming quilt show. The quilt pattern is by Heather Jones and is called Dayton No. 1. You can get the pattern here in her book Quilt Local.

For the stitching we’ve used one of Karlee Porter’s edge to edge designs called Retro Tile #11. We love how the curves in the stitching add such a fun texture to straight lines in this piece. It also brings a touch of drama to the negative space on the quilt.

We also wanted to let everyone know that we are at about a week out on Longarm Quilting. So if you are wanting your quilt top done and back fast now is a great time! With our shows coming up over the next three months we will be quite busy and the wait time will be longer.

Thank you for stopping by! Make sure to sign up for our email list to be kept in the loop with any changes going on.

Have a great day!

Hiring a Longarm Quilter

Hiring a longarm quilter can be a daunting task. You’ve spent hours on your quilt top working so hard to get it just perfect. Sending it in the mail to someone you’ve never met can be scary! I know. I was once like you. Trying to find the perfect longarm quilter, one who I hoped would view my quilt top as a piece of art that I worked very hard on making. One who would take their time to make sure that the design and the quilt top match. One who would listen to my concerns and give me that feeling of assurance that my quilt top would be in good hands.

Here at Lavender Fields Blankets we not only understand your concerns. We want to work with you to overcome that fear, and to help you choose a design that works best for your quilt top. When you agree to work with us we immediately begin to work on making a relationship with you to help you feel at ease. When it is time to load your quilt top on the machine we find, based on your likes, 5 pantos from you to choose from. We have found that breaking down to just 5 helps relieve all that confusion of the thousand of designs out there to choose from. We work to communicate with you through text, pictures, and/or video to come up with a design that you love!

WE never start on your quilt top until you are happy and secure with the design. Not only is the design important but also the density. Some clients like their quilts very dense. Some in between dense and what I call light dense. Heavy density takes longer as we slow the machine down just to make sure it takes all those curves and stitches slowly and perfectly. I find that this is a very important step. I would rather take the time to be at the Longarm longer and get a perfect stitch than to rush a job.

We love our clients and we love your quilt tops as much as I love mine. Your quilt will always be sent back to you wrapped in plastic to protect it and a tracking number to track it. You can trust us we will be tracking it too!

We know here at Lavender Fields Blankets that your quilt is your piece of art that you are creating to put out in the world. Rather you sell it or you use it as a family heirloom to be passed down thru generations we want you to know that we understand just how important and loved this quilt is and will be. I am first a quilt maker myself. My quilts each speak something about me at that specific time in my life. We know yours do too!

We want you to know that working with us that communications is very important in the process of your quilting service. That is why you will have access to our cell phones and can communicate with us through call at our normal business hours or through text after hours!

WE look forward to working with you!

Until next time!
