As I sit here. Thinking. Doing a little reading. My mind wonders back to this weekend. Where we said our farewells to a brother I hardly knew in adult life. There are so many emotions. So sad that he died so young. Some mad that he chose to do that on his time and to not include any good byes to us. I am tired. I am emotionally spent. I am in pain.
I’ve chosen to start writing my feelings down. Getting them out is my souls way of releasing. So, maybe I can move on. My doctor told me yesterday that the trauma of the service and seeing him will come and go like waves. It changes you. But we cannot change how anyone lives their life nor how they choose to end it. We can only find comfort in the fact that the suffering and pain for him is gone. He has moved from this place. We are still here. To still feel the wounds.
I was told that when the bad thoughts come to change them to the good memories. To dwell on the good and the fun times we had. This experience has changed our family dynamics. I can feel it already. We are all pulling away into the safety of our own homes. Our own families.
Everyone wants to forget the hard childhood. Wants to forget the terrible void. Our minds like to dwell on the bad. But we do have a choice. We can change. We can choose how we live our lives so that when our time comes. We can exit in peace.
Winter is coming here. The air is already cooler and the leaves are falling from the trees. I want to use this winter to heal, to get mentally stronger, to get in shape, to take care of myself. To write out my feelings. To accept things as they are. To change what I can and to show so much more love. To speak slow and quiet. But at the same time to speak outside of my head and not hold things in that hurt me or things that make me happy.
Life is fragile. I’m reading a book called “Wintering. The power to rest and retreat in difficult times.” So, this winter I will be wintering. I will be soaking up every minute. Slowly feeling the season. Feeling every moment. Writing it down so that I can remember it when my mind starts to distort my memories.
To be more grateful. More intuitive. Closer to my power. More alive. To taste my food. See the beauty in the seasons.
To create beautiful things. To learn to cook good food. To make my house a refuge of safety and love. To sit in the silence and listen. To be off line and be present in life. To find the good in every day. To connect deeper. Make deep friendships. To be aware of my surroundings and to help others. I want to slow down and absorb every minute. I want to look ok forward to things instead of dread and fear things.
I want to sit on the porch and watch it snow. I want to share more with my kids. But most of all I want to start living outside of my head and show more love.
What are you looking forward to this winter? The quiet months. Let’s all live in this season and not rush to the next. It will come in it’s own time.
I hope you have a great day! It’s early here in Indiana. We’re suppose to be getting snow this afternoon! We shall see.
I got the opportunity last week to work on a few client quilts. My broken arm helped right along and I was so thankful for that! The first quilt was a darling baby quilt. The colors were gorgeous and we used the edge to edge Dainty on it. I just love how it turned out!
The second client quilt was a Christmas quilt that my client and his sister worked on. Those colors!!! We used the edge to edge called Cake Walk and used red thread. Don’t you just love the contrast? A very beautiful quilt!
If you follow me on Instagram we’re going to be going live with an update from the doctor yesterday later on today!
Good morning friends! We survived our show this weekend and we are going to be working on a quilt top today, resting some, and watching some football!
I pieced this Meadowland myself. I love all the gold tones and fall colors. It’s my favorite time of the year as I really love the color orange right now! I got the bundle of fabric from Southern Charm Quilts and it was just the perfect match of fabrics. She has lots of fabric and some really cool patterns. January I want to make her Anthology quilt!
We are also super excited to be working on Suzy’s quilt top from Suzy Quilts. It’s from her Shine sew along and I can’t wait to get it on the LongArm!!
We also have 3 tshirt quilts and 5 full quilt finishes to get done by Christmas so with that being said our cut off for Christmas delivery is November 15. After that I can’t promise I will get the quilts back but I sure as heck will try!
All well workshop has a beautiful pattern for quilted coats and we will be working on these for our next fall show. We will have a long and short version. I’m super excited about that! I want one for myself so bad that I can’t wait to get started on them! Do you prefer shirt or long?
Well I am off of here now. Must pickup and cleanup the house from being gone all weekend. We hope you have a great Sunday!
Happy Monday, or is it Monday Blues? It seems to change as the day goes on here. I went into today feeling powerful and ready to take it on. Now I’m dragging. Honestly I think it is because I skip breakfast and then eat lunch too late. I’m trying to get better at that. My body only eats when it’s hungry so planning 3 meals a day does not work for me. Or maybe it’s the cooler weather. 🤷♀️ How are you feeling? How are you adjusting to the cooler temperatures?
Well my friend Sammy could tell us all about that. She sent this beautiful quilt all the way from Alaska! I think that’s the furthest one to come in. The pattern is the Stella Star and her fabrics are just adorable. If you look closely the backing is all skies! We used Let is Snow on this one. I really like how it came out. She’s now back in Alaska with Sammy!
We are getting ready for our 2nd show this weekend. It’s called The Chandelier Barn Market. We always have a great time and meet lots of new friends and see lots of old friends. We get a bunch of fresh air and some really good food truck food! I can’t wait for that part! If your in Southern Indiana it’s worth getting bundled up and coming out to. It’s in Montgomery Indiana.
Hello! Good Morning! Guess what? I made a quilt! It has been a while. But it was so much fun. This quilt pattern is the Stella Star. The star parts are paper pieced. First time I have done paper piecing and it was so much fun! I am ready to do it again! If you have not tried it I would start out on this pattern. Jenna explains so well in her pattern how to do it. I also found a really good YouTube video that helped me a lot. I will link it here! If you have been quilting a while you will love this. It is something new to learn and it kind of feels like you have leveled up! You know what I mean?
I chose all neutrals for this quilt. I love how all the soft colors turned out. I think the only thing I would change is the color of the star outline. But other than that I am pretty happy with the choices. I used Marmalade as the edge to edge design and added my binding on the back and brought it around the front like I do and machine stitched it down. I love doing it that way. Gives the front of the quilt such a perfect look! What do you think?
I worked on this Meadowland Quilt this weekend. What beautiful fabrics! It is the second one I have done for Mary and she always picks the best fabrics. They always have animals in them. The first one you can find on here she used a Birch Fabric and they were all birds. It was adorable. Kind of makes it hard to send the quilts back. She chose the edge to edge design Flicker Flame. I think it turned out perfect!
I worked on this Christmas Joy quilt that was sent in also. Is it not so pretty? And that backing fabric was flannel and so nostalgic. She chose the edge to edge pattern Loop D Loop and I just love it. It is similar to Midnight Sparkle. Just a lot more sparkle! I will defiantly be using this one again!
I hope you have a great day where ever you are. It is starting to cool off here and yesterday the wind was blowing in a cold front. The leaves were blowing everywhere and the sun shining on the trees was just breath taking with all the beautiful fall colors! It is a blessing being in an area where the seasons are a big change. But my heart is still in Tampa Florida. I fell in love with Clear Water Beach and that area when i went down there this summer. I dream of a condo on the beach. Where I can see the ocean and hear it. I can sew and people watch and maybe makes some friends through the window. We can dream right?!
Ok still dreaming of Florida but getting off of here now so I can get to work. I have a Knitted Star quilt I am going to be working on, it is a Christmas Gift so I will not be posting pictures until after Christmas. Have a great day!
I got to work on this quilt top today. Is it not beautiful. I am not sure of the name of the pattern. I will get that information tomorrow. But it is really beautiful and unique! The colors and the pattern is just so cool. I would definitely love to have time to make one. We used the edge to edge Christmas Cardinals in a pretty big print. They are hard to see on that white but it turned out real cute. You can definitely see the cardinals on the white really well.
I am finally getting caught up (hopefully) tomorrow on the Stellar Star quilt! I have been excited to start on it. I am going to read the pattern over tonight and I always highlight the size and directions that I need. I am testing another one of Amanda’s patterns this week also! So lots of fun stuff to work on while I longarm quilt client quilts.
We are also a sponsor for one week for the Shine quilt pattern sew along that Suzy @SuzyQuilts is putting on starting September 23 I do believe! The pattern is another really cool one and I will doing one of those too. I need quilts for my Christmas show so these three will be perfect addition.
Ok………….. I really don’t know anymore. I am really just kind of tired and blah today. The cooler weather is making me want to stay in bed and read all day. Anyone else?
We are out and about today and tomorrow at the Chandelier Barn Market in Montgomery, Indiana!
Come out and see us and introduce yourself. We are so excited to see our friends and make new ones! The weather is suppose to be great today. Yesterday we sit up and we seen a ton of very beautiful booths. Something for everyone. This year the market will be on the Gasthof grounds in Montgomery!
We had the opportunity to work with Shelly from Coral & Co on her new pattern. She contacted us wanting us to longarm quilt her quilt top and we were super excited. The pattern is called Tinsel Time and it is the sweetest holiday quilt pattern. It is simplistic and very modern. I love that about it. But at the same time you could use some pattern fabric and make it so fun!
If your looking for a really cute holiday quilt to add to your collection then I would be making this one. In fact I am going to make this one this year to add to my collection. Let me know if you make one! And let us know if you would like us to Longarm Quilt it for you! It would be our honor to help you!
Its my birthday! Yes! A big one at that. I turned the big 55 today. It seems unreal to be 55 years old. I think the older you get the faster time flies. But considering all the things going on in the world right now I feel very blessed to reach my birthday! Honestly with the covid virus hit the US I was wondering if I would make it. It sounded, and still does, so scary. The first couple months I had very major anxiety. I think we all did. Especially with the lock downs. It still is very scary if you ask me.
Anyway enough gloom. I was able to work on this beautiful quilt pieced by Shelly from Coral & Co. This beautiful pattern, Tinsel Time Quilt, will be coming out August 3rd, 2020. I just love the simplistic lines to the quilt and pattern. The options are limitless on the colors and patterns you could use for this quilt. I am sure she will be doing a quilt a long with the release of the pattern. So watch her website or follow Shelly on Instagram!
I used the edge to edge design Let It Snow by Urban Elementz. It is one of my favorites for holiday quilts. It stitches out so pretty and flowing. Very easy pattern to work with.
