Quilts of Valor

Hello Wednesday friends! I hope this finds you doing well. Times have been busy here. We are currently working on quilts, baby quilts with crib bedding and such for our shows this fall! We will be at the Chandelier Barn Market this fall and Christmas! We are so excited!

We’ve had the opportunity this week along with our regular Longarm Quilting to work on this Quilt of Valor! These quilts that come from the Quilts of Valor are donated to a veteran. The quilt maker volunteers her time and the Longarm quilter donates her quilting and batting. We all work together to make a large quilt to be given to the Veteran at a little celebration! It is another way to give back and we are all about that!

We also obtained some old vintage quilted tops. In fact they are handstitched and they are amazing! We are going to be repairing these and quilting them and making quilted coat tops! This is another one of our missions that we are working on. For every 10 quilted coats we sell we will be personally handing out a coat to a homeless person in Indiana. We hope that you will help us with this mission by donating quilt tops for this project! As a quilter and person with a heart for serving and caring for others I believe this will be a good way to give back. IF you would like to personally get involved please send me an email at lavenderfieldsblankets@gmail.com or through our website here on the contact page!

We would also love to be able to supply a hat and gloves with these coats. So if you would like to donate those that would be great. We will start handing out the coats this fall for the winter season 2020-2021. We would love to now but it just takes time and resources and those are being used in other areas too. But we should definitely be up and running with the coats this fall!

Well I guess that is about it for now! We are working on two quilt alongs and will have that information for you tomorrow! Have a great day!

Quilts of Valor

Hello Monday again!

It seems the time is flying by. Anyone else feel that way? I have so many things I need to do. So many things I want to do that I’m just kind of stuck!

So this morning I am making me two to do lists. One for the house and life. One for quilting. I have always been a firm believer in lists but for some reason I’ve gotten away from it lately and that feeling of being overwhelmed and scattered is driving me crazy! What do you do to keep yourself on track?

I had the privilege of working on this Quilt of Valor. If you haven’t heard of the organization it is a great one! You rather volunteer to make the quilt top and backing or you volunteer to Long Arm the quilt. Then when it is finished it is donated to a Veteran. The organization is very dear and near to my heart as we have a lot of Veterans in our family including me. We also have a son who serves in the Air Force right now.

Everyone loves quilts. Giving one to a veteran is a way to recognize them and let them know that as quilters we surround them with love and gratefulness for the sacrifices! Even if you didn’t serve during war time you sacrificed your life and your time to training and keeping the military ready in case of war.

This quilt will be going to a Marine Veteran. It is made with love and respect. And a hope that it will bring them comfort and keeps them warm, and lets them know that as quilters we love them and are very grateful!

Do you quilt or Long Arm? Could you help? You can find out all the information about it on their website here. You can donate how ever much you want. I do 4 Long Arms a month. IF you want to do one quilt a month that would be great! As a quilter you provide the quilt top and backing. The long armer provides the batting and the quilting. She then sends the quilted quilt back to the maker who then binds it and donates it! If your looking for a way to volunteer in 2020 you might want to consider this! Let’s wrap all our veterans in quilts!

This quilt was quilted with the edge to edge design from Three Sisters Fabric. It is the Baptist Fan and it goes together so smoothly. I love it and it has now become my favorite edge to edge that I have!

Well I am off to work on those list and conquering my to do’s! Have a great Monday friends!

Love

Lisa
